NJVMA Animal Hall of Fame
Another reason to celebrate during the NJVMA Annual Meeting this year is that two of our doctors nominated an animal who will be inducted into the 17th annual NJVMA Animal Hall of Fame on Sunday. General practitioners, Dr. Melanie Hunt and Dr. Mary Beth Morgan, nominated “Memphis” to honor the love he had for his family and for protecting and serving others. Hazlet police officer Kevin Geoghan and K-9 partner, Memphis, worked together almost 9 years as part of the Hazlet Police Department before Memphis succumbed to cancer on March 7, 2011. Memphis’s work career was highly impressive with many arrests and heroic stories. Kevin and his family allowed us to witness the heart-felt bond they shared with Memphis and we were honored to care for such a wonderful dog. Thank you Memphis and Kevin, and all the police officers and police dogs, for the work you do to keep our communities safe. It is a true celebration of the human-animal bond.
