Brookdale Students Train At RBVH
The third NAVTA-approved (National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America) Brookdale Veterinary Assistant Class (in collaboration with Red Bank Veterinary Hospital) started their clinical rotations this week at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls. The students are a very well rounded, smart, and enthusiastic group and we are very proud of them!
The class, which started Feb. 7th at Brookdale, consists of 12 students who have successfully completed their classroom studies at the college and are now applying that knowledge during their clinical rotations.
Mentoring the students is an entire staff effort, as students shadow in all departments of the hospital to fulfill the course requirements. Departments include Client Service, Phones, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, Triage, Nursing, Clinics, Surgery, Pack Prep, Recovery, Internal Medicine, Medical Boarding, and Physical Rehabilitation.
New for this class is the Clinical Training Center, a classroom off the clinical floor that was created to accommodate student groups needing to learn specific skills. The CTC is stocked with many sizes and shapes of stuffed animals as well as clinical supplies to accomplish required clinical tasks without using true patients in the hospital. We also have official canine training mannequins as well to demonstrate more intricate skills (ex. CPR).
We look forward to hosting our students for their next two weeks!
